The Curry County Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation’s membership is composed of dedicated members, volunteers, and partners that have been active, primarily in the Port Orford and Gold Beach area, since 2002. The committee’s primary activities include water quality sampling, and educational partnerships with Driftwood Elementary and Pacific High School. Our biggest and longstanding partners, The Port Orford Ocean Resource Team, helped initiate our early engagement with the Port Orford Stewardship Area and later the Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve. We also partner with the Tsunami surfers 4-H Club and South Coast Watershed Councils. The Chapter engages in citizen science initiatives, ranging from marine debris monitoring to marine reserve research/implementation, to planning and educational activities.
